GEORGIA 24 HOURS

As one of BBC Music's Sound of 2020 longlisters, Georgia has made a considerable impact the year since her distinctive rhythm-first style took on a more synth and pop acumen. That being said, we’ve been fans of Georgia for years now, covering her riotous ‘Feel It’ back in 2017 and her dystopian Bjork-esque ‘Nothing Solutions’ in 2015. We’ve even had the pleasure to interview this session drummer turned one-person band. Okay, that’s enough lamenting on the past for now, let’s talk about the brand new ‘24 Hours’. Opening with a suggestive heartbeat, electronic keys and the spoken word introduction “Right now, I know, two hearts, never be the same, / Right now, I know, talking bout the party people, / Talking bout the party people.” It’s clearly a continuation of Georgia’s celebration of club culture that we heard through ‘About Work The Dancefloor’, as well as her undeniable love for rhythm, whether that’s the skillful percussion in her music or the natural beat of our hearts. Through the dance and pop fuelled momentum of ‘24 Hours’, Georgia maps out the very thing that connects us all - rhythm. - Hannah Thacker
